So you’ve decided to delve into the hobby that is painting miniatures. It can be overwhelming at first, and one of the most challenging things is figuring out what tools you need right away and what tools you don’t need quite yet. This week’s post is about the essentials, the tools you’ll need to getContinue reading “Tools of the Trade: The Essentials”
I’ve finished the first two minis. They are larger so it didn’t take me as long to complete. The Sand Kraken took a few hours and Cthulhu only took about two days. I will make an update once I’ve painted everything with new and nicer photos. These are just the quick photos I took forContinue reading “SoB Wave 2: Update 1”
Notes: Minivember photos are coming, I’ve taken almost all of them and the ones I have have been edited. So keep an eye out for those soon. They’ll probably just go into a portfolio but I will make a blog post letting y’all know that it is up. Mini Ma’al is on hold, I’m waitingContinue reading “A Few Notes and Shadows of Brimstone”
I’ve gotten quite a bit of work done on this since my last post. First I took a Reaper Bones Hydra model (SKU: 77191) and the wings from the Reaper Bones version of Rauthuros (SKU: 77111). I then cut up the wings into two pieces and carved out an approximation of the shape of theContinue reading “Mini Ma’al: Update 1”
This will be an ongoing project for a while since I will be doing it in between other projects. So what’s a Mini Ma’al you ask? Well it’s the mash up of a Reaper Miniatures Bones Hydra and the wings of a Bones Rauthuros stuck together to make a miniature Tiamat like creature. The Ma’alContinue reading “Making of a Mini Ma’al”
I meant to post these a while ago. I have 3 more fire giants that are WIP’s and will get those up as soon as I finish them but here are the King and Queen. These are from the Reaper Bones 3 Kickstarter. They are currently for sale on Reaper’s website and possibly your FLGS.
I recently entered the Reaper Miniatures quarterly painting contest. As per rules I could not share this until the winners were announced. I did not win but I think I still did a pretty good job. I am happy with it and that’s all that matters.
I finished Dagon up last week. Here are the final pictures. He didn’t fit in my light box so the lighting isn’t the best but I think the photos turned out okay.
I have gotten quite a bit of work done on this since my last update. It’s been a while since I’ve worked on him because of other projects so I picked him back up this past week. He’s needed for a game soon. Here’s a bunch of photos that show what I’ve done since theContinue reading “Dagon Update: Two (photo heavy)”
This is a very fun model. I will be using her as a new player character mini. I am very nearly done now though. Here’s a few pictures of the process. I did learn some new things on this one, mainly how to paint distressed leather for her chaps. I think for a first timeContinue reading “Ellen Stone (WIP)”
