This week’s blog is about things that are helpful but not necessary to have around. “So what kind of things might I want to have around?” First and foremost in my opinion are notebooks. Notebooks are handy for many things in the miniature painting world. You can use them to do things like plan outContinue reading “Tools of the Trade: Handy Things”
So you’ve decided to delve into the hobby that is painting miniatures. It can be overwhelming at first, and one of the most challenging things is figuring out what tools you need right away and what tools you don’t need quite yet. This week’s post is about the essentials, the tools you’ll need to getContinue reading “Tools of the Trade: The Essentials”
I’ve finished the first two minis. They are larger so it didn’t take me as long to complete. The Sand Kraken took a few hours and Cthulhu only took about two days. I will make an update once I’ve painted everything with new and nicer photos. These are just the quick photos I took forContinue reading “SoB Wave 2: Update 1”
Notes: Minivember photos are coming, I’ve taken almost all of them and the ones I have have been edited. So keep an eye out for those soon. They’ll probably just go into a portfolio but I will make a blog post letting y’all know that it is up. Mini Ma’al is on hold, I’m waitingContinue reading “A Few Notes and Shadows of Brimstone”
I’ve gotten quite a bit of work done on this since my last post. First I took a Reaper Bones Hydra model (SKU: 77191) and the wings from the Reaper Bones version of Rauthuros (SKU: 77111). I then cut up the wings into two pieces and carved out an approximation of the shape of theContinue reading “Mini Ma’al: Update 1”
I meant to post these a while ago. I have 3 more fire giants that are WIP’s and will get those up as soon as I finish them but here are the King and Queen. These are from the Reaper Bones 3 Kickstarter. They are currently for sale on Reaper’s website and possibly your FLGS.
I recently entered the Reaper Miniatures quarterly painting contest. As per rules I could not share this until the winners were announced. I did not win but I think I still did a pretty good job. I am happy with it and that’s all that matters.
So I’ve got a ton of things going on right now. I’ve got 7 projects due by the 3rd of Februrary. I know I’ve procrastinated on getting Minivember photos up but as soon as I catch up on this backlog I’ll get those taken care of. I’m also working on making a paint swatch journal.Continue reading “Quick Update”
I finished Dagon up last week. Here are the final pictures. He didn’t fit in my light box so the lighting isn’t the best but I think the photos turned out okay.
I’m going to say this up front: I was not paid to do this review. Now that that’s out of the way let’s get into it. The Hobby Holder started out on Kickstarter needing only $16,500 to begin production. They made $89,348.50 and an additional $14,651.50 in the backer kit. So needless to say this isContinue reading “The Hobby Holder: Review”
